Key drive: Three short punts helped Cambridge Christian add touchdowns on its first three drives including a 3-yard scamper from senior running back/defensive back Aaron Pierre.

Stars of the game: Junior running back/defensive back Andrew Cunningham totaled 110 yards and two touchdowns on just six touches. – Junior quarterback Jaylin Jackson rushed for consecutive scores in the second quarter. – Pierre had 35 rushing yards and a touchdown on offense and hauled in an interception on defense. – Sophomore quarterback Darryl Mercer had a 17-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter.

Stats of the game: Junior linebacker Scott Ater finished with a team-high six tackles for Cambridge. – Junior wide receiver/defensive back Caleb Young finished with 65 receiving yards, a pick and a forced fumble. – Senior safety Zach Froelich had an interception. – The Lancers held Village to under 200 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers.

Final word: “It’s impressive how quickly Darryl Mercer has kind of jumped in and been there. I’ve never had two quarterbacks like this at the same time.
