Kingdom Education

As parents, we aim to raise loving, successful, honest, and independent children who love God with all their heart (3 John 1:4). Kingdom Education plays a crucial role in this journey, especially during the elementary years.

Kingdom Education integrates faith with academic excellence, fostering a strong spiritual foundation. By combining rigorous academics with biblical principles, Kingdom Education equips children with the tools they need to excel academically while growing spiritually. It nurtures character, instills moral values, and promotes a Christ-centered worldview. This holistic approach ensures children excel academically while growing spiritually, developing into compassionate, ethical, and responsible individuals.

At Cambridge, we partner with parents to provide Kingdom Education. Our teachers weave Biblical teachings into daily lessons, focusing on the whole child—spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. We delight in growing in God’s love together, building a strong spiritual and academic foundation from the Lower School years.

Spiritual Growth

Chapel

Our Lower School Chapel is a highlight of the week, offering engaging worship experience for students. Every Wednesday morning, first through sixth graders come together to sing praise songs and listen to Bible-based messages delivered by local youth pastors and staff. Our Kindergarten Chapel takes place on Monday morning each week. Parents are always welcome to join and worship alongside their children.

Spiritual Retreats

Our 5th and 6th grade students have the opportunity to disconnect from daily distractions and focus on their relationship with God through spiritual retreats.

Scripture

Memorized verses can offer comfort and encouragement during challenging times, reminding you of God’s promises and love.

Service Projects

We encourage our CCS students to participate in community service projects, which can help them live out their faith through acts of kindness and service.

Biblical Worldview

In additional students participate in Bible class. Our teachers provided Biblical Integration woven throughout daily lessons and routines, and discipline.

Leadership Development

At CCS, we cultivate leadership through diverse activities that nurture character development and equip students to lead with a strong biblical foundation. This approach ensures they are prepared to guide others with integrity, wisdom, and a heart for Christ.

Christian Students
Leadership Council (CSLC)

This council involves students in community outreach and leadership of Lower School Chapels. Members meet for devotion time, hear from local speakers, and coordinate various projects. Fifth and sixth-grade students must go through a selection process in the fall, requiring good behavior and grades, to participate and serve.

Students will expand their vocabulary and grammar through a story telling language approach, and an emphasis will also be placed on pronunciation and real-life conversational phrases.

Music

The program is designed to teach music from a Scriptural basis, and students will use music as a tool for worship and outreach. The course is divided into four parts, each containing various elements of music and genres, and each with an emphasis on vocal techniques, performance practices, musical history, exposure to famous musicians like Beethoven, and uses of technology in music today. Students will participate in two performances during the year, memorize various songs and have the opportunity to interact with age-appropriate instruments in a creative setting.

Band

Our program is designed to engage, equip, and encourage students in their musical pursuits. It is the hope that each student who experiences the band program has an appreciation and understanding of instrumental music. Each year the band puts on fall and spring concerts where students perform a wide variety of music literature and display the skills students have crafted. Each week a praise band is put together to lead the weekly chapel service in a few worship songs.

Media Center

Our Media Center fosters a love of reading through engaging programs like Author Visits, where students connect with writers and explore the creative process. We host I:55 Book Fairs, offering faith-based, family-friendly books that support literacy and promote Christian values. The art program will build upon young artists’ skill level and media allowing them to explore their creative talents – even if they don’t yet realize their full potential! Students will learn design elements using a variety of media (paint, chalk, colored pencils, paper, clay, etc.). Every year during the Spring semester, the Art program hosts an Art Exhibition showcasing many of the pieces that students have worked on over the course of the school year.

Physical Education

The program is designed to emphasize lifetime health and fitness, as well as continue to develop individual and team sport skills. Students will be tested to determine fitness level throughout the year. Students that do not participate in a middle school team sport will be introduced to a variety of team sports to learn the fundamentals and build their skills in each. Those who participate in middle school team sports go to team practice during their PE time.

Apple Initiative

Apple Initiative Overview

CCS has set out on a new and exciting school-wide initiative comprehensively providing Apple Technology to faculty and students. Apple products provide a high level of innovative educational opportunities such as increased engagement, intuitive collaboration, and creativity. Apple devices provide durability, longevity, and ease of use that are unmatched. A goal with this initiative is to provide teachers with the ability to provide dynamic learning experiences and ultimately for our students to experience highly engaging learning opportunities.

In Lower School, this Apple Initiative will provide access to a device for each student. Students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade will have access to an iPad. 6th Grade students will be using MacBooks in preparation for Middle School.

In addition to excellent learning opportunities, it will provide an equal footing for all students and all grade levels. That alone provides more efficiency and reliability in the classroom with devices performing at the same level and similar devices being made available to all students. Next, it allows for teachers to better mitigate classroom distractions and lost educational time as it relates to technology in the classroom. In addition, it supports a more intentional and measured use of technology in the classroom. Finally, it provides an improved organizational structure for device support.

In preparation for this initiative for the 25-26 school year, teachers will be completing an Apple Teacher Certification Program. The Apple Teacher Program is a professional learning program that equips educators with iPad and Mac skills and guides them to design engaging new learning experiences. In addition to Apple Teacher Certification, two faculty members also hold Apple Learning Coach designations and will help to provide support and guidance as coaches.

The Ultimate Goal of Technology IntegrationAt Cambridge Christian School

God-honoring, safe, appropriate, and intentional uses of technology that support teachers and lead to high level learning experiences for students

Devices in Lower School will generally stay at school. Why is a 1:1 program important in Lower School? Having a device for each student strips away constraints of when devices are available for use, creates a better experience in terms of battery life and devices being charged and ready when needed, and allows for more student creativity and new and more flexible learning opportunities in Lower School classrooms.

STEM Technology

Our students in kindergarten – second grade begin their technology journey by developing keyboarding skills through various programs. They will learn how to independently access and log into different applications, as well as navigate the computer home screen and websites. Throughout the year, students will continue their academic work using a range of programs available both in the classroom and at home. Additionally, they will engage in lessons on digital citizenship and gain an understanding of how different components of a computer function. In grades 3-6 students continue to develop their keyboarding skills through various programs. They will focus on online safety through digital citizenship lessons, create collaborative projects that interact with other grade levels, and complete grade-level assignments using tools like Canva, Microsoft Office 365, and Apple programs.
