Christian Life On Campus
What’s In a Name?
Cambridge Christian School was founded in 1964 as Seminole Presbyterian School. The original chapel—built by Seminole Presbyterian Church—still stands on our campus today. As you explore school options, you’ll notice that some describe themselves as “spiritual” or mention an affiliation with a church or denomination. But what does it truly mean to be a Christian school—and why does it matter?
At CCS, having the word Christian in our name is deeply meaningful. Over time, we transitioned from Seminole Presbyterian to The Cambridge School. Yet it wasn’t until we officially became Cambridge Christian School that our identity felt complete. Why? Because our name now reflects our mission—clearly and boldly. It tells the world who we are, and continually reminds our students, families, and staff of our foundation in Christ.
Living Our Faith
Of course, a name alone isn’t enough. Our actions must reflect our faith. At CCS, we teach through the lens of a Biblical Worldview, integrating Scripture into every part of our curriculum and daily life. Our goal is that education and Biblical truth are not separate, but unified.
As Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.” We believe both are essential. Proverbs 1:7 reminds us that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” In Scripture, fear refers to a deep reverence and awe for God that guides how we live and learn. This kind of character, shaped through a growing faith in Christ, is the heart of true education and the foundation of the CCS experience.
Love Thy Neighbor
We believe in the authority and truth of God’s Word and are blessed to partner with mission-aligned churches and organizations throughout the Tampa Bay area. Through our Love Thy Neighbor initiative, students engage in service opportunities that reflect Christ’s love and help meet the needs of our broader community.
What is an Outreach School?
CCS is more than a Christian school, we’re also an outreach school. That means we welcome students from all faiths and backgrounds, creating an environment where conversations about God are not only welcomed, but encouraged. From weekly Chapel and daily Bible classes to servant leadership opportunities, students are immersed in a culture shaped by Jesus.
We want every student to know they are loved by God and called to be His disciple—on campus, on the field, and in the world.
Ministering to Families?
We often say we “partner” with families, because we believe, as Scripture teaches, that parents are the primary educators of their children. Together—with the school and the Church—we form a three-legged stool that helps students and families thrive.
To support families, CCS offers:
- Weekly Moms in Prayer, Dads in Prayer, and Single Mom Ministry gatherings in our dedicated Prayer Room
- A thriving on-campus All Pro Dads chapter that meets monthly
- Kingdom Parenting sessions hosted by our Head of School for new families (with an optional spring class)
We count it a privilege to pray for our students and their families—and we’re here to support you every step of the way. That’s what a true partnership looks like.
More than College Prep?
Our motto at CCS is: “Preparing for college is important, but preparing for life is essential.”
While we are proud of our rigorous, award-winning academic programs, our mission goes deeper: to glorify God in all we do. That means ministering to students and families, sharing the Gospel, demonstrating excellence across academics, athletics, and the arts, cultivating Christlike character, and serving both locally and globally.
Our ultimate hope? That each Lancer experiences the peace of God and stands firm in the truth of His Word throughout their life.
That is the Lancer Legacy.
