LAKELAND, Fla.’Southeastern University women’s golf coach Steve Phelps has signed Sarah Noto to a letter of intent this afternoon on campus.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Noto is a three-time state qualifier during her time playing for Northside Christian and Cambridge Christian. Additionally, she has competed in multiple junior tours including Hurricane Junior, FCWT, Florida Junior Tour, and Tampa Junior Golf Association.
“Sarah Noto is a wonderful addition to SEU and our women’s golf program,” said Phelps. “She has the passion, heart, spirit, and determination for success in her walk with God, academics, and golf. I feel she will be able to jump right in and make a big impact on our drive for a Conference title.”
Most recently, Noto finished eighth in her age group at the HJGT Junior Girls Tournament held at Lake Jovita, shooting rounds of four and six over par. This past season, she finished second at the District Championship with a round of 76 at Eagles in Oldsmar, Florida. She carries a 3.0 handicap.
“I chose Southeastern because it’s very close to home and it’s a great opportunity for my parents to come and watch me play,” said Noto. “Secondly, I love the campus and love the environment here and feel I can grow in my faith, athletics, and academics.”
Noto graduated with a 3.93 grade point average and plans to study psychology and family counseling while at Southeastern. She is the daughter of Dennis and Kelly Noto.
The Fire won two invitational championships last season, which was their second year of competition.
