Devotional Thoughts: Why is everyone so stressed out? One reason is that we’ve all become so self-reliant and our world is more about what we can do and less about what God can do. In Mark 4:26-29, Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to a farmer who casts seed on the soil. The lesson we learn in this parable is that yes, the farmer casts the seed, but God is the one who makes it grow. Seeds grow like little miracles even while we sleep. We play a part in God’s work here on earth, but the result is up to Him.
Why? Because He is the King of all kings! He is the one who created the heavens and the earth. God had a plan for the redemption of the world through His Son Jesus Christ and God has a plan for our life too. The bible tells us He knit us together in our mother’s womb. So the challenge today is to understand that we are not in control of anything. And that’s great! Wouldn’t you want to have the King of all kings in control of your life so you don’t have to do it yourself? When we realize that God wants us to rest in His presence more than He needs us to do anything for Him, it takes all the pressure off our lives and stress is gone. That doesn’t mean we just sit around and do nothing. It means we don’t worry about the result; we trust God for that!
