Dear Lancer Family,
The number of COVID-19 diagnoses continues to increase both nationally and locally. The CDC continues to emphasize social distancing as a primary method to avoid contracting coronavirus. In response, erring on the side of caution, we are hereby suspending on-campus schooling until, at a minimum, Monday, March 30th.The state of Florida and Hillsborough County Public Schools made the same decision today. As that date approaches, we will send additional communications. It is our hope and plan to resume regular on-campus classes March 30th. We will be closely following updates and recommendations from the CDC and Health Department and would encourage you to do the same.
School will continue, but from a distance. This will hopefully position us to avoid extending the school year into the summer. In the Upper School, we are prepared to move to the online platform with which teachers and students are already familiar, Moodle. Details are forthcoming in a separate communication from Mrs. Gibson. In the Lower School, we will also proceed with remote schooling. Mr. Valdez will communicate the details under separate cover. While this is not “Plan A” for a CCS education, we are going to make the most out of the resources at our disposal to provide the best that we can. Finally, I know that Little Lambs was scheduled to be open for next week (during spring break), but unfortunately, we will have to close it effective immediately until March 30th.
During the week of March 23rd, in addition to having no on-campus classes, there will be no CCS-related extracurricular practices, games, or performances on or off campus. Details regarding appropriate rescheduling of calendared events will be forthcoming.
These are interesting times in which we live. I continue to hope that all of this is a severe overreaction. For now, though, we believe it prudent to proceed in the safest way possible for our students and staff. We do not need to live in fear. Fear is not from God. Let’s trust God, make smart choices, and seek His face together.
