I remember the daunting task of looking for a school for my son over 15 years ago. He was only 3 at the time (now in college) and is my firstborn, so finding the perfect school was a task I took very seriously and spent weeks and weeks researching. Maybe you can relate? Whether you are looking for a new school home for your firstbornor a new high school for your teen, you know how important this decision can be. Even for the most organized parents, the amount of information out there is daunting. Don’t you wish each school had a sign to let you know immediately what they were all about? Even in looking at school brochures, whose sole intent is to inform, they tend to read like one big, long, advertisement, or worse yet, are so esoteric that you have no idea what they’re talking about. In “What Defines Us…” the goal is to provide you with a document that, after reading, gives you a real sense of the culture and heart of our school. After all, there are many schools out there that claim an excellent educational experience, but after 12 or sometimes 15 years of schooling, you deserve an Excellent Experience, period. Education shouldn’t be so focused on grades, test scores and college acceptances that we lose sight of what it is that matters most to us–reaching the heart of a child.
